AutoCAD Designer/Drafter

Job Description:

Kirby Pike Engineering is seeking a talented AutoCAD Designer/Drafter to become part of our technical design team. The candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD and be responsible for performing a variety of electrical/mechanical/civil design and drafting tasks using prescribed methods and standard techniques. The candidate must also possess strong communication, math skills and knowledge of all applicable codes. The position pay range is dependent upon overall experience and discipline specific experience.  Kirby Pike offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a premier benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform design and drafting tasks for facility infrastructure projects.
  • Expertise in progressing engineering design sets to include 30%, 45%, 50%, 60%, 90%, and IFC submission with knowledge for UFC requirements of end deliverable items.
  • Design tasks include applying basic electrical design formulas and codes as required for the particular task and project.
  • Work with a team of technical staff to develop project deliverables ranging from design documents to technical reports.
  • Create accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instructions, and site visits.
  • Assist project engineer.
  • Apply design knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the discipline.
  • Use CAD and Revit design software to prepare engineering and design documents including mark-ups and production tasks as directed by the Engineers.
  • Organize and upload drawings to web-based storage sites/collaboration project sites to share drawings with customers and subcontractors.
  • Develop project bill of materials.
  • Provide production support.
  • May perform field inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Specialized CAD certification, diploma, associate degree, or bachelors degree w/ related CAD experience.

Required Experience: 

  • 2-5+ years of experience in drafting of low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD (2018 and newer), Autodesk Revit (BIM) is desired.
  • Ability to interpret and implement drafting standards from clients for drawing templates and production drawings.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience in creating detailed schematics and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Electrical drafting experience is required, civil, mechanical, fire protection experience is desired. Multi-disciplinary experience is highly desired.
